I don’t know his name,
He didn’t say.
But he was so handsome,
So elegant was he,
I quietly admired him,
Or was he a she?

I thought he looked pheasant-ish but his colouring confused me – not equal to a male or female pheasant. But then someone told me he was a juvenile pheasant who hadn’t got all his colours yet 😀

Agreed, he/she is lovely. I had a look at Pheasant / Grouse / Partridge and I really can’t make up my mind, but she/she is interesting.

I think Animalista Untamed got it – I didn’t recognise him because he is juvenile – a male pheasant but without all his colours yet. I’ve never seen one at this stage before and he is so beautiful isn’t he? 😀

Sweet poem😊I think he is a he, and could be a juvenile pheasant – not got his adult male plumage yet. He needs to fill out a bit too, but hopefully not to be shot and eaten x

Oh, yes, I hadn’t thought of that, they all start off brown when they’re little. Oh please God they’re not breeding them around here again. I hope he’ll stay in our garden where he’s safe 🙂

Looks like a kind of pheasant, prolly a male . Male pheasants have more coulour than the female ones. Just putting my two pennies in , Violet.

Great Francina, thank you. I wonder what type of pheasant. Of all the pheasants I’ve seen before, the males are more colourful than this one, but the females are less so than him/her. This is a fun puzzle to look into 😀
